Bowl Care & Cleaning
Regular cleaning helps prevent bacteria buildup, ensures fresh-tasting water, and keeps the bowl in top condition. Follow this guide to care for and clean your dog water bowl effectively, including tips for maintaining the plastic window!
Why Clean Your Dog's Water Bowl Regularly?
Like any water bowl, our bowl can harbor bacteria and dirt over time if not cleaned. Even microscopic residues from your dog's mouth can encourage bacterial growth. Cleaning the bowl regularly ensures the water stays fresh and safe to drink and maintains the integrity of the bowl.
1. Hand-washing
Use warm water and mild dish soap to clean the bowl by hand.
Use a soft sponge or dishcloth to scrub all surfaces, including the edges and underside.
Pay special attention to the inside corners where dirt can accumulate.
Rinse it thoroughly with warm water and refill.
2. Dishwasher
Our bowl is BPA - free and Food Grade Safe, meaning it is Dishwasher Safe.
Place the bowl on the top-rack of your dishwasher. Use an Eco or Standard Setting (around 140°F or 60°C).
AVOID any ‘special settings’ on your dishwasher such as “Sanitize” or “High Heat” as this may damage or warp the bowl.
3. Cleaning the Plastic Window
We found the easiest way to clean the window without a dishwasher is with a cotton ear bud!
Use an earbud (cotton swab) dipped in soapy water to reach small, tight crevices along the window’s edges.
Avoid abrasive sponges or harsh chemicals, which can scratch or cloud the plastic.
Maintenance Tips
Frequent Water Changes: Refill the bowl with fresh water at least once a day.
Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Stick to pet-safe, mild cleaning products to preserve the integrity of the bowl.
By following these steps, you’ll ensure your dog’s water bowl stays clean, fresh, and safe. Regular care not only benefits your dog’s health but also extends the life of the bowl, keeping it looking and functioning like new.
